Carmel and Monterey, Day One
The kids had the best time ever at the Monterey Bay Aquarium–we went three days in a row, and found new stuff to do each day. There are tons of kid-based games and activities that are interactive, which works especially well for Hana. Maya was really into the Open Sea exhibit, where she gazed at all of the large and small fishies with rapt interest.
There was also significant interest in the snack bar, which served peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, as well as milk and potato salad.
We stayed at an amazing little bed and breakfast in Carmel that has
cottages, so the kids had their own room. Carmel is just beautiful at
Christmas, and since I have successfully converted the entire Jamil crew
to my obsession with Christmas lights, we were in the right place!
Lights galore, and we drove around every night.
