Eid Mubarak, from Amna's well-dressed nieces
Amna bought Maya and Hana these adorable shalwar kameez in Pakistan and sent them home with Mustafa, and we managed to get both of them dolled up and photographed last night in Lafayette. Maya was kind of into the dress-up event, which made me question my image of her as a tomboy. Hana had her usual reaction of crying, then looking around, then rooting for milk. Thank you, Amna, as usual, you are the best!
Tomorrow is Eid al-Adha, which we’re going to find some sort of secular way to celebrate when the kids are a little older. Mustafa fears that all of their holidays will be uber Americana, given my love of Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, and Fourth of July, and the fact that I am the only one around here that organizes anything.
