Mammoth, take 2

Sorry for the slow blogging…I’m limited to blogging from the laptop while the grandparents are here, and the setup is a bit more primitive. Here are some shots from our visit to the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest. I thought I was going to barf most of the ride up (that would be a million mile drive on a windy dirt road, with crazy man Jamil at the wheel). When we arrived, I felt better, and we had a picnic at 11,500 feet amongst the trees! Maya was OK with that, mainly because she got a bottle AND there were some dogs to look at.
We took as much of a hike as I was going to take at 11,500 feet with a 19 pound baby strapped to my front–about 1.5 miles, looking at all of the cool old trees. Some are over 4,000 years old! The very new baby was pretty interested in touching the very old trees, and was unfazed by the altitude. Mustafa took a picture of all 230948203984 trees, so we were there for awhile. On the way down, my dad did a dramatic reading of the altitude reading on the GPS as we descended. The Bowen-Jamil clan is truly fun-loving.
