Fatima meets Maya!
My sister, Fatima, is meeting Maya for the first time this weekend. She finished up taking her mid-terms (she’s doing her MFA) and immediately hopped on a plane. Happily, her first meeting is going delightfully so far. Fatima and I got our signals crossed, so she didn’t know I was coming to Oakland airport to pick her up, and thus was totally surprised to see “this big guy with this tiny baby attached to him” waiting for her in the baggage area. She sat in the back seat with Maya on the drive back to Fremont, and has hardly put Maya down since then. It’s been love at first sight.
Fatima has been a champ at helping us this weekend. (I think Rebecca and I want her to move in.) She’s already experienced the 3 o’clock and 6 o’clock wakeups, except she seems to think the crying of the baby is cute. (Well, so do we, but it’s less cute at 3 in the darn morning.)
I also took a quick video of Fatima lying in the glider with Maya asleep on top of her. Rebecca and I find this quiet activity one of the most satisfying, and Fatima agrees.
